  1. Use thread sealants or PTFE tapes on male threads.

  2. Apply proper torque to avoid over-tightening (which may crack the flange).

  3. In some designs, a seal weld is added after threading for extra safety.

  4. Ensure machined faces (RF or RTJ) are within ASME tolerance for gasket seating.

  5. Select compatible gasket material based on temperature, pressure, and media.

  • Raised Face (RF) – standard for most applications.

  • Flat Face (FF) – used in cast iron or non-metallic piping.

  • Ring Type Joint (RTJ) – for high-pressure and leak-proof sealing.
